BUILDING EMPOWERED, DATA DRIVEN BLACK TECH ECOSYSTEMS

As the Co-Founder & Education Director of Black Tech Mecca (BTM), my decision to embark on an entrepreneurial journey and join my partner to build BTM was inspired by the trends the data showed about the future of the African continent and the Diaspora. I started engaging and consuming more content about intentional Black and African millennials who were not as concerned with graduating and immediately transitioning into the workforce, but were more focused on building meaningful, impactful businesses to boost our local and national economies.

I was inspired, nervous, uncertain and committed.

That's what I love the most about my generation. We’re relentlessly committed to breaking social and cultural norms to build our communities. We are educated, connected, and a lot more travelled than our parents, so as we expand our global wings, we are more intentional about celebrating our cultural pride to weaken and debunk problematic (and downright stupid) stereotypes about our culture.
